…we all have a story. Here’s mine.
I hate exercise. Let’s get that out in the open now. I am also not a fan of watching what I eat. After reading that intro you might be thinking, well what the hell are you doing as a health and fitness coach then?! Allow me to share.
I weigh a lot. I weigh a lot more than I should and honestly I’m tired of it. I have the tendency to be very stubborn and one day I woke up and told myself that this is it. No more excuses, knock the chip off of your shoulder, and let’s do this! I used to flip-flop back and forth between the gym and at-home workouts and eventually stopped doing both. Obviously this didn’t do anything for my overall appearance.
In March 2016, I sat and watched an infomercial on a Beachbody workout. I knew that is where I had to start out. I can do this at home for a while, start to get results and then go back to the gym. I also knew that I had goals.
- Lose at least 25 pounds within 6 months
- Run a 5k completely
- Become emerald
- Inspire other people to choose a healthier lifestyle
I haven’t achieved any of my goals. What I do know is that I’m not the only one that shares this similar story. We all get beside ourselves and let ourselves go until one day, it all clicks! As much as I want to write that I’m a successful coach and I’ve lost all this weight, the truth is – I’m on my journey just like anyone else who is just starting or someone who has a head start. I can relate with those who don’t like working out, thinks protein shakes are weird, and can come up with any excuse to not do what I should be doing to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
One of the best ways that I have managed to stay accountable with my goals is to be part of accountability groups. As a coach, I run free accountability groups on Facebook (click here if you want to join!). The group is designed for us to share our workouts, our struggles, recipes, our water intake – anything to keep others going on their journey.
Now that this group has been created, my mindset has changed, and it’s the first of the month – I have a new set of goals and this time around I’m going to knock them out of the park!!
- Hit my goal weight within the next 6 months
- Run a half marathon (April)
- Become emerald within the next month
- Become diamond within the next 6 months
- Create an inspirational community of like-minded individuals that are ready to take control of their lives and make the changes needed to fulfill their health and wellness goals.
So, are you ready to take control of your life and knock your goals out of the water?!
